Virtual Exhibitions

Promotional Illustrations, CASTELLI GALLERY

During the 2020–2021 lockdown many galleries turned to virtual exhibition software to connect with their audience. Castelli Gallery wanted to connect with people on a more emotional level, and so we brainstormed “cartoon” virtual exhibitions that would leave room to visually acknowledge the moment. These illustrations span winter 2020–summer 2022.

The top image features two works from the “Homestyle II” exhibition at 24 West 40, February 1 – May 30, 2021: Joseph Kosuth’s Five Fives (to Donald Judd) [Green], 1965; and Roy Lichtenstein’s Brushstroke Chair and Ottoman, 1988.

The second image features Richard Pettibone’s Marcel Duchamp, ‘Bicycle Wheel’, 1964, #3–9, 2016; and his sculpture Marcel Duchamp, ‘Bicycle Wheel’, 1913–1964, 2013.

The third and fourth images focused on the gallery’s view of Bryant Park.

The fifth image features Andy Warhol’s The Kiss (Bela Lugosi), 1963, as a playful addition to Bryant Park’s Movie Nights lineup.
